Nursery Overview

Housed in a modern, light and airy building with direct access to large and secure gardens, our Nursery is a happy, home-from-home for young children from the age of two.

With flexible scheduling and extended hours to support busy parents, we offer each child personal attention from specialists who really get to know the children. Balancing child-led play with teacher guidance, we embrace every learning opportunity from the classroom to the mud kitchen and from the vegetable gardens to the ancient woods. Fun-filled learning lays the foundation for personal growth as deep bonds form.

A nurturing start in nature

Set within the Prep School’s 125-acre grounds which include ancient woods, open fields and winding streams, our Nursery School provides the ideal environment for little explorers aged 2-4. We ensure that each child feels safe, secure and cared for as they take their first steps on their personal learning journey.

Flexible options to suit every family

We understand that every child and every family is unique. That is why we offer a range of options to meet your family’s needs, with full or part-time hours and term-only schedules if preferred. Our doors open at 8am and we provide care until 6pm to support busy and working parents and those who live further away. 

Learning through play

Our Nursery curriculum balances child-led exploration and teacher-guided activities focused on developing social, physical, verbal and early reading skills. We embrace learning opportunities wherever they may come from, whether on playground adventures or nature walks through the ancient forest and the open fields outside. Learning is made fun as the children grow through imaginative play.

Low staff-to-child ratios allow us to give each child personal attention and get to know the children really well. We take pride in the deep bonds formed with families and the rapport built with each child during their time with us. Our nurturing culture, beautiful outdoor spaces and happy atmosphere make the Nursery feel like an extension of your home.

A smooth transition to ‘Big School’

When the day comes for our youngest children to move up to Reception, we ensure that the transition is seamless. By the time children reach their fourth birthday at Claremont, they have already started phonics lessons and are familiar with their new teachers. Your child will walk through the doors on their first day in Reception, ready to shine.
