Eco School

At Claremont, we believe in making a positive impact on our environment through education and action.

As an accredited Eco-School with a Green Flag Award for the past three years, we are dedicated to incorporating sustainability, respect for each other and other global issues into the curriculum, particularly in geography, science, maths, and art. Our Eco Leads, representing every class at the Prep school, drive initiatives to educate and empower the whole school community to create a sustainable future.

Our core Eco projects currently include: investigating and improving awareness of making commuter and school journeys more sustainable; establishing new environmentally-friendly initiatives around our grounds, such as building bat boxes; and raising awareness of our local environment with new technology.

Did you know?

Every Friday after school, our pop-up Eco Shop is open for business, allowing staff, students and parents to support sustainability by purchasing Fairtrade and eco-friendly products while engaging in insightful conversations about environmental stewardship.

Changemakers

Each year the Eco Leads work with other like minded children across our ISP school network to improve our environment. Last year pupils took on an ambitious project creating a wildlife pond near the orchard.

This academic year (2024-25) we are building four bat boxes to help the endangered species in our area. Each year we get to chat with other schools and talk about what we are doing. These conversations improve our awareness of the world and help us appreciate life in a contrasting context.
