Admissions for International Students

Claremont has a thriving boarding community and welcomes international students from many different countries around the world. We want all our pupils to succeed in both their academic and non-academic pursuits.

To that purpose, we offer a range of courses to meet their specific needs. This ranges from a Pre-High School Programme, which offers near-beginners an intensive English course within the context of  our junior school, to IELTS preparation in the Sixth Form to enable UK university access. Our aim is to ensure that all of our international students are able to access every part of school life. Our staff have received dedicated Multilingualism training to help facilitate this.

Step 1 – Explore Our School

Please contact our Admissions Team, who will take you through our admissions process, answering any questions you may have and arranging next steps.

We strongly encourage families to visit our school and beautiful grounds first hand. However, we can also arrange video calls and virtual tours to suit your needs. You are also very welcome to attend one of our Open Mornings (October or May) or Open House Weeks (March), or make a private appointment.

Step 2 – Apply

The next step is to apply for a place at the school. Our Admissions team will ask you to complete a Boarding Application Form and provide copies of:

  • The child’s and parents’ passports
  • Birth certificate
  • School reports for the past two years

Step 3 – Entrance Assessment

Once you have applied all students will be expected to undergo some assessments:

  • All prospective students have an interview, either in person or online, with one of our Senior Leaders at the School. As a non-selective school, we will discuss the best programme of study for your child, answer any questions you may have and assess the suitability of each applicant to join our community.
  • For those seeking to join our Football Academy, there will be an additional interview and assessment with Jim Colston, the Football Academy Director. If unable to attend in person, families should submit evidence of achievements to the admissions office for the Football staff to assess.
  • All students with any specific educational learning need will meet with our SENDCo at either the Prep or Senior School.
  • All students take an online English Language test.

Step 4 – Offer Letter

Once all of the above is completed satisfactorily, the School will be ready to issue an offer letter, outlining any conditions for entry and any potential scholarship award.

Step 5 – Registration

Secure your child’s place by completing the necessary forms and making payments. On receipt of a completed registration form, registration fee and deposit, your child’s place is secure. At this point you may require a visa in order to study in the UK. If this is the case, we will support the process of obtaining the required document (CAS) with the assistance of our specialist consultants (Newland Chase).

Step 6 – Getting Ready to Start at Claremont

Our friendly team is always here to help. We are conscious of the big step it represents to study and live in a foreign country. As a result, we have a comprehensive induction process to support both children and parents. Prior to arrival families will be given the chance to meet boarding house leads online. They also receive an extensive Information Induction Pack to prepare for their child’s arrival.
