MFL Half Term Message

Señora Osborne and Madame Patel would like to wish all our students a wonderful half term and well deserved rest!

Our language pupils have been working so hard this half term and have made an excellent start to their “Language Journey” this academic year.

We have seen the introduction of the “Language Learning Passport” and the children have enjoyed learning about the country they are linked to for the year. We look forward to working on this more during the year and linking up with some of our ISP schools.

We all really enjoyed our International Literacy Day and not forgetting the European Day of Languages which was a great day of fun events and learning.

In lessons, the children have really impressed us with their determination to “Get Better” from Nursery and Pre-Prep all the way through to Year 8. The children are enjoying their new learning spaces for Languages and we have lots of new resources too.

It is always a joy to welcome our younger children in Pre-Prep to the MFL Department and they are picking up new language very quickly. Year 2 also have the new Spanish club on a Thursday which is proving to be very popular. It is rather impressive to be learning two languages at this young age, so well done!

Friday Enrichment is a lovely way to end the week. Our French improvement group for the older pupils with Madame Patel is proving to be a useful tool and the Spanish Junior Enrichment group for Year 3-5 is a bustling fun way to introduce Spanish to the younger years of the Prep school.

The MFL Friday surgery on a Friday lunchtime has also proved to be popular for French and Spanish pupils across the whole school for those wanting to improve their language or to get some extra nurturing support from Madame/ Señora O.

Congratulations to all our pupils for a successful half term. Many topics have been covered such as “Holidays” in Year 8, “School and Home” in Year 7, “Family and Descriptions” in Year 6 , “Countries and “All about me “in Year 5, “Classroom instructions” and “Numbers” in Year 4 and “Greetings and Introductions” in Year 3 to name just a few.

For those who have exams after term we wish you all good luck!

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about Languages at Claremont.

Bonnes vacances / Felices vacaciones!
