U.S. Students Explore British Education at Claremont School

A group of twelve students accompanied by three adults from Kehoe-France Southshore, a U.S.-based educational institution in Louisiana and an International Schools Partnership (ISP) sister school, began their journey into the heart of British education at Claremont School on the 13th of March 2024. The highly anticipated visit formed a core part of their European educational tour in the UK, which will include further cultural trips to London, before moving on to Scotland and the Isle of Skye.

Upon their arrival at the Senior School, the students embarked on a comprehensive tour and explored a series of co-curricular activities that were taking place, including school choir practice, the “Art Attack” workshop and “Change Makers”, an International Learning Opportunities for Schools (ILOS) initiative.

The afternoon also offered a taste of Britain’s rich history with a trip to Bodiam Castle, a significant opportunity to thrive in knowledge outside the traditional realm of academia. Dinner at our Pyke Boarding House in Battle followed, where the visiting students were able to enjoy dinner and conversations with our boarding students and staff, offering an authentic taste of independence abroad.

The following day saw a visit to the Prep School, where our annual Science Fair was in full swing, showcasing an array of experiments and exciting school projects. Visits to history lessons and drama and music classes followed.

An afternoon trip to nearby Battle Abbey and the historic high street further deepened their understanding of British history and heritage.

In what was a brilliant cultural exchange opportunity, our staff and students were delighted to host our visitors from overseas, and we wish them safe travels as they continue their exciting tour!
