The purpose of our PSHE programme (or ‘Curriculum for Life’ as we sometimes refer to it), is to build on the skills and knowledge students have acquired throughout their time with us at Claremont, so that they have the confidence to face the challenges life will throw at them as young adults, whether they continue on to further education or the world of work.
The PSHE programme is embedded into the Senior School curriculum with many of its aims and objectives met in the course of every day school life but in the Sixth Form, students are able to delve more deeply into a broad and diverse range of issues relating to their own personal development as they prepare for their A levels and for life beyond Claremont. Discussion themes and study modules call for self-reflection and wider perspective-taking and range from exploring students’ relationships with others and building a personal ‘brand’, to what risk looks like in the adult world, rights and responsibilities in the workplace, managing finances and even cooking on a budget. Designed to be timely and relevant as well as enriching, the Sixth Form PSHE curriculum helps students become emotionally adept young adults, giving them the confidence to embrace all the change, challenges and chances yet to come their way.
