The release of the termly enrichment and after-school club programme is always eagerly anticipated by pupils and parents alike. Family favourites include Zoology Club, where children have the opportunity to handle and learn about our resident corn snake, water dragon, gecko and axolotl to name but a few; Chess Club, where many a hard fought game is won and lost each week and our Newspaper Club which is run by a bestselling author, ghostwriter and former national journalist. There are numerous Sports Clubs on offer ranging from football, horse riding and cricket to the extremes of Kickboxing and Yoga and Wellbeing. Other activities include Tap and Modern, Spanish and Latin clubs, Musical Theatre, Needlework, Art and the ever popular Coding Club with its loyal following of tomorrow’s technological whizzes.
When the Musical Theatre group has its star turn on the Claremont stage, it can be a life-affirming moment of self-belief for some of the children in the spotlight; ‘not so sporty’ pitch-side spectators can often by amazed by their children’s new motivation to compete, and learning to play a musical instrument can do wonders for a child’s confidence levels and cognitive abilities in equal measure. Our full curriculum enrichment programme gives children richer learning experiences doing more of what they love, whilst discovering a few hidden talents along the way! It also helps in the development of the so-called ‘soft skills’, such as listening and collaborating with others, presenting ideas and communicating with peers – crucial life skills that will prove invaluable at senior school and in the world beyond.
