Senior School is celebrating another fantastic set of A Level and BTEC results for this year’s cohort of students, bucking the trend of significant grade decline seen across the country and continuing to make great strides in its academic provision.
42% of A Level grades were marked at A* or A grade while over 73% of students achieved A*-B grades. More than 90% of students achieved Distinctions or starred Distinctions in BTEC subjects Sports Science, Digital Media, Dance and Business, offering alternative routes into some of the top universities in the country such as Loughborough, Bath and Manchester. Mr Dickie said “This set of grades is very pleasing indeed. To think that this group of students have never faced public examinations and have had to deal with the disruption of a global pandemic! We are very proud of each and every one of them“.
A Claremont education is focussed on giving students the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their academic level or particular interests. We are preparing aspiring vets, actors, entrepreneurs, fashion photographers, lawyers and everything else in between, in a learning environment where all are valued for what they contribute to the community. With such a diverse range of students exam statistics can fluctuate wildly depending on the cohort, but the fact that more than 80% of our students will be going to their first choice university is a strong indication of the exceptional learning culture we now have at Bodiam.
Standout performances included Mary Woodfear, who achieved three A*s and will be studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge while Archie Wilson managed A*s in both Maths and Further Maths and will go on to study Physics at UCL. There were also notable results from Lucia Tyler, Anthony Pitsiladis, Harvey Wells, Joseph Basczak and Max Estall who all achieved A*s, As and Distinctions across a wide range of different subjects.
These excellent results follow a year of increasingly impressive accolades for the Senior School (to include The Football Academy’s victory in successive National Championships, and Claremont being named Independent School of the Year for Performing Arts in 2021), and indicate that we are now delivering consistently in the academic arena at a similarly high level.
We aim to instil the same values of aspiration in our students, connecting them with our network of more than 60 schools across the globe in the International Schools Partnership and giving them the confidence to follow their own pathway. It is an exciting time to be studying and working at the school.
