I discovered my passion for photography at Claremont during Year 9 and went on to study BA (Hons) Photography at Arts University Bournemouth.
Over the last two terms at university, I have had an incredible time, being set briefs that allow me to push my current understanding of what is possible in photography. I am particularly interested in abstract photography, which was the theme I explored this term, where I have been experimenting with the impact of electrical currents on film.
I am also very interested in capturing physical movement in photographs, and I have enjoyed combining my passion for dance with my work as a photographer. I love the concept of being able to convey a message through the body and to try and capture the raw beauty of this in a still photograph.
I had the pleasure of being invited back to dance in this year’s dance show at Claremont, which was such an amazing feeling. Dancing at Claremont one final time marked a perfect ending to some of my fondest memories at the school. On top of dancing, it was also an absolute pleasure to be invited back to photograph the event as well; with so many different and unique numbers, it was a very rewarding challenge to try and slow down time and capture the power of every single dancer on stage, revealing the emotion and movement that was poured into every dance.
Since leaving Claremont, I have taken photographs for Matthew Bourne’s Cygnet Dance Academy last summer, which was a wonderful insight into the professional world of dance and hope to continue this journey further in the performing arts field.
