Newspaper Club gets snap happy with global Press Photographer

On a very sunny afternoon at Claremont, global press photographer, Rich Page paid the Newspaper Club a visit to offer some valuable words of wisdom to our budding young journalists.  The children learnt all about the art of capturing the perfect press shot and how to take memorable photographs that really  tell a story.  They learnt that a picture can be “…worth a thousand words” so with free reign of our fabulous grounds, they set to work to test out the theory.  The children had the opportunity to take some shots of each other using Mr Page’s own camera and professional equipment and the results were… well, judge for yourself!

Q: How long have you been a photographer?
A: I turned professional in 2000.
Q: Did you always want to work for the media?
A: No, I was a scientist for Kodak in Rochester NY, USA
Q: What do you take photos of?
A: Life, People, Galas, Portraits, Weddings, Sailing, Yacht Racing & Super Yachts.
Q: Which newspapers/publications have you taken photos for?
A: To date, Sydney Herald, New Zealand Herald,  London & NY Times, Boston Globe, UK Telegraph, Financial Times, The Mirror Group, The Sun. Paris Match, HELLO, OK!, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue – USA, Italia, France & UK plus many more.
Q: Describe a typical day in the life of a press photographer.
A: Very Long! With long periods of inactivity followed by intense, and sometimes, frantic activity!
