Claremont School is registered with the Nationals Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) and can be seen competing in all disciplines hosted by the association. Competition is fierce and in fields of over 100 riders in some events, our committed team of talented riders have qualified for the national championships in show jumping, dressage, eventers challenge and arena eventing.
Grassroot competitions have been set up to help promote competitive riding for younger or more novice riders and the aim is for children to have a positive and fun experience of competition before they tackle bigger challenges. These start with lead rein classes and progress to 70cms. These classes act as a stepping stone for the mainstream competitions which progress to 1.10.m. Claremont are proud of the results that our riders achieve both in the NSEA competitions and in stand-alone national competitions which have seen them compete at Hickstead, Horse of the Year show, Royal Windsor and other prestigious professional venues.
We offer a livery service to international students who wish to bring their own horse or pony to Claremont. We can also help riders find the perfect horse here in East Sussex.
Team coach Maria Green is a UKCC level 3 coach and competed at a high level in juniors and young riders, competing at Horse of the Year show and representing team GB. Whilst show jumping is her first love, Maria has experienced success at intermediate level in eventing and trained to medium level in pure dressage.
Maria is sought after as both a coach and a coach mentor with an enthusiastic, empathic style. Well known for helping riders achieve their goals Maria embraces the most current coaching and sports psychology tools whilst drawing on more traditional skills as a rider to help our students enjoy and excel in their competitive endeavours.
The Claremont Equestrian team is a well established and successful group of welcoming and supportive riders, who aim high and regularly achieve success in competitions across all equestrian disciplines.
Riders who show particular talent and potential can apply for an Equestrian scholarship at Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12.
