We are very excited to announce that the Senior School has made it through to the Finals of the Independent School of the Year Awards 2021. With over 700 nominations from schools across the country, we are immensely proud to be named just one of six finalists in the category ‘Independent School of the Year for the Performing Arts‘.
Over the last few years, the Senior School has been steadily growing its reputation as a centre of excellence for the Performing Arts, so this is a wonderful way to further celebrate all we have achieved in the ten years since the School first opened its doors to students. The World Economic Forum predicts that Creativity, Originality and Initiative will continue to trend well into 2022 as some of the most important skills needed for future jobs and our students are certainly making the most of the opportunities to develop them through an enriched Performing Arts curriculum with student voice at its heart; whether that’s on the stage, out in the community, over the airwaves for the Claremont Extra Podcast and outreach initiatives, in front of, or behind the camera in the CSS News team or in the many original pieces of theatre the students write, produce and perform each year.
Many congratulations to all our musicians, actors, dancers, writers and tech teams, and to Claremont’s Director of Performing Arts, Sarah Cakebread, Claire Waller (Drama and Lamda), Natasha Smith (Head of Music) and Beth Eckhoff (Head of Dance) – and the members of our brilliant Communications Faculty for all your wise words and ongoing support for the CSSN project.
The winners will be announced at the Independent Schools of the Year Virtual Awards Ceremony which will be held on Thursday 7th October.
